Fiber Friday!
Posted in
Knittery
I've been fibery busy this week! Not only did I finish this adorable baby hat (Finished post with pattern here) I also cranked out a hank of yarn! Ok it was half way spun already, but I did finish it.
Behold! About 185ish yards of sort of sport weight merino wool in the colorway "Thistle". I absolutely love spinning merino. It's so soft and I've been so happy with the yarn I have gotten out of it. I need to order some more.
I'm not sure what I'll make out of it. Maybe a hat? Or a cowl? Or maybe I'll just sleep with it under my pillow...
I've also been (slowly) working on the Anniversary 11 shawl. I just finished Clue 3 and started on 4... I think it's going to take a bit longer though because I'm just not feeling it that much. The baby knitting... it calls me. :)
Happy Friday!
Meg

I love that color. You did a very nice job. I am glad you have felt like fooling around with fiber again. I am hooking today. It feels nice.
Oh wow, I guess there's a reason the old-timey ladies did all their spinning and weaving from scratch. Is wool expensive, though? Is it cheaper to spin it yourself?
The stuff I've been getting isn't terribly expensive, it just depends on the fiber (just like yarn). It's probably a bit more expensive to buy the wool than the finished yarns, but spinning is fun so it's worth it! Plus you get to pick the thickness and customize it a bit rather that just getting whatever the yarn store is selling you. :)
O.K., so I didn't miss the "We're having a girl" post. I love this hat too!
And LOVE that yarn. Great color.
So, do you dye your own yarn? Where do you like to buy your fiber?
I promise not to keep driving you crazy with questions... after today. :)
Blessings, Debbie
