This Week - Randomly

Best Christmas present ever.

Sweet chili sauce making has begun! I had almost enough tomatoes (I had to supplement the rest with a can of crushed), and I've been wanting chili sauce so bad my mouth has been watering. It is now all in a pot, simmering and reducing away.

In finally got to use the food mill that Ben got me for Christmas last year and it made short work of those tomatoes. I have been fussing at my tomato plants for their abysmal production, but I've heard from others that their gardens haven't been producing a lot this year either. I think our extremely hot weather is just doing everything in.

We're set to hit 111 on Saturday. Not. Fun.

Munchie broke a tooth! His very first one, and thankfully he's been a bit less grumpy since then. And he slept til 4:30 this morning! It was wonderful, especially coming off of two weeks of him waking up every hour (because of the teeth, I would guess). He's also rolling back to front and front to back now, and he can scootch his way across the living room on his back. He gets very proud of himself for it.

We start school in just two short weeks. The boys will be starting Kindergarten, and since we're going to be homeschooling, that means Duder will be doing Kindergarten too. I am so very excited to start! I have all my curriculum and books ready to go and I'm just waiting for the 20th.  In the mean time I am scrubbing my house so that I don't have to worry about major cleaning while I am focusing on school.

We got the car back Monday evening and it's so nice to drive without it taking forever to shift. I'm very, very thankful it's fixed since we have vacation coming up and I didn't want to risk it breaking down while we were gone.

I've been knitting away on a red and white mitered baby blanket. I'll post pictures soon. I am waiting for yarn to start a pink Babylove Blanket for one of Ben's coworkers. The little one is due the second week in September so I'll have to knit like the wind to get it done in time.

I'm also wide open to take Christmas orders, for anyone who is looking for something special!

Happy Wednesday - stay cool!
Meg

I love the picture of your kitchen after doing tomatoes. I never think about taking pictures at that point.
It all sounds so good. Yeah, I am freaking out about the heat too. It has been so hot my pumpkin vines are just dying and my tomatoes don't look to good either. I have lost one hen I hope I don't loose anymore.
I am so glad the baby cut his first tooth and you got to sleep a bit later.
Have a very nice weekend,

hot weather. it's been the same in oklahoma.

you will love homeschooling, and some day your kids
will tease you like mine do. they want to do the same,
though!

Good luck with your teaching . The kids must be excited to start a new chapter. The chili sauce sounds delicious. I have never made it, but love using it!

Oh, you've been busy! It's wonderful to get a full night's sleep, isn't it? I'm glad he finally cut his tooth and he's gaining some mobility. It makes life so much easier. :-)

I need to purchase a food mill. I keep thinking about it and never do. I'm putting that on my "must buy" list right now. How exciting to start homeschooling and congrats to that little handsome one on the tooth! That's great. I'll have to email you about Christmas items.....I have some ideas that I'd like to see if you can make for me. Although I'm planning on starting knitting I am facing the fact it will take awhile before I can make something other than a straight line. :)

I'm glad you got to break in your new kitchen toy. I bet the sauce is perfect.
