The Next Thing

Last week I posted on Facebook that I had been seeing my cousin and my sister pinning quilts to pinterest, and in the spirit of not being outdone, it was time for me to start quilting.

I've been avoiding looking at quilts and patterns because I had a feeling that if I went down that rabbit hole I would wind up buying a lot of fabric... a lot... (have you seen my yarn stash? Goodness...). But I can't help what other people pin and... well...

I ordered a cutting mat, a cutter, and a stack of fabric. It came last night.

Whoops.

Looks like I'm going to try my hand at quilting.

I'm not promising much. I'm not even promising I'll make a whole quilt.

But I'm excited to try.

As soon as the camera came out Munchie started laughing like a crazy person. Apparently all my kids are hams for the camera.

Happy Sewing!
Meg

P.S. A lovely, sweet friend of mine is going through a rough time right now and could use some prayers, if you would be so kind as to send some her way. :)

I will be praying for your friend. What the heck is Mr. Munchie thinking? Silly baby. Look at the grin. Have fun with that. I have some blocks all cut out but have yet to sew them together. I just procrastinate like that. I think because I am not a natural sewing kind of person so I have to really think. :)

How cool! Have fun with the quilting. I have some beautiful old quilts from my grandma that I just love but I've never tried making quilts myself. Seems like it's kind of a lost art nowadays!

Oh my, that little Munchie is so adorable. Is he looking more like you or is just my imagination? I can only tell by photo, but it seems his little face looks like yours. :)

Quilting! Oh boy.....that's something my mom wants to start. I don't know if I'm a quilter - I like more instant gratification. But I do love quilts....and fabric....

Prayers are definitely coming your friends way. I hope all goes ok.

If you've got the time and the energy to quilt, I say, "Go for it!" Be sure to post your progress.

May God bless your friend and restore her life back to peaceful and healthy times.

Learning to quilt is on my bucket list. Look at Munchie! That is one devious little expression. Lol
Sending prayers out for your friend too

Sure, I'll keep your friends in my prayers! And, Meg, I just had to laugh at how you just jumped in. Sounds like something I would do. I've made some quilted pillows and I made a quilted table runner that I never put the binding on because it intimidated me. I really need to finish that. I made it two years ago, and it's very summery looking. It turned out great except for the lack of binding. Oh well. Maybe someday! I'm looking forward to seeing your quilting progress!

It's because they know how gorgeous they are! :) Good for you... you 'needed' something else to do my dear crazy friend...
