Weekend

Last year's Zombies

(Sorry Staci, I'm stealing your title. :))

It's Monday! We had a very nice weekend - how was yours?

On Saturday Ben had to work (of course), but he was able to get off early since that night was our company Christmas party.

The past three years have been at a casino. We would have dinner and then would play a round of poker. Which for us... wasn't so much fun. We're not into cards that much, and we hate gambling.

But this year, the company tried something differently. We went to a place called Noriega's, which is a basque restaurant. It was SO MUCH FUN. We've never been to a basque restaurant before (well, not that we can remember). Everyone sits at big, long tables and all the food is served "family style". They have the communal bowls and plates in the center and you serve yourself from them. Then they bring another course. And another course. And another course. By the time all was said and done we had had soup, cow tongue (surprisingly tasty! I was brave and tried it), bread, ox tail stew, spaghetti, fried chicken and french fries and dessert. It was really unique and really fun to sit and down and have to converse with the people around us. No one got to go off in their little groups like they did in past years.

Sunday was a normal Sunday. Ben mowed the "new" lawn that had come up with a vengeance. We puttered around. And we had a lovely Sunday dinner of BBQ baked chicken, baked potatoes, salad and stuffing.

I had run out of flour and potatoes and a lot of other stables the week of Thanksgiving and it has been really interesting to go for that long without my staples. We were determined to wait until December before we started the month's grocery budget. Luckily I had made sure to make bread that week before I made any Thanksgiving treats, so we just barely squeeked by in that department. But we went shopping yesterday and it's very nice to have a food stock in the house again.

I finished two - yes, two! - orders over the weekend and that puts me a day ahead. Yay!

I have new yarn coming next week for a few orders. I can't wait!

What did you do this weekend?

Have a wonderful week,
Meg

Christmas zombies?? Lol Cool. The party sounds great but I'm not sure about the cow tongue and ox tail soup. Not sure if I'm that adventurous.

I felt so blessed all day that I got to see you when we were all grocery shopping.
I sat and smiled like and idiot all day knowing that I live in a town where I can run into my sweet family.
I am so glad you are so far ahead. Good for you.
I love the zombies on the tree. :)
Have a great week.
I have lots planned to get done this week but as of yet, just made plans.

I think it's funny when I read "mowed the lawn"...I can't IMAGINE being able to mow in December;))

Cow tongue has got to be my least favorite dish besides tripe. :) I can't believe you liked it!Ha! You've surprised me!!

Sounds lovely Meg... Especially the part about being ahead. At this time of year, I KNOW this is a blessing.

Love the foliage Mitts! Wonderful use of color... clever girl.

* Sorry, I forgot to mention the whole 'food at your craft table' thing. I had always thought of it as just something fun for the girls but truly, it helps get people to stop and play. And then of course you're right... you get to eat the leftovers!

Blessings, Debbie

That sounds really awesome! I keep trying to get my hubby to try Basque, but the idea of cow tongue turns him off.

Meg - steal away! I'm sure I stole the title from someone too. :-) Tongue? Wow.....you ARE brave. I can say I've never tried it and can't imagine doing so. Any chance you'd consider making some kind of heart ornament for Valentine's day? Either shaped like a heart or a circle with a heart.....something like that? I'd be interested if the mood strikes. I have a small white feather tree that I like to decorate seasonally. Let me know. And mowing the grass.....jealousy from this side of the country. We're expecting snow tomorrow night. Glad you had a nice weekend and a fun party!!
Have a great week.
