A Bit of Random

I'm having writer's block. No motivation to post at all. So today you get some random. I have a banana nut bread recipe ready to post, but I'm saving that for when I'm really out of content.

Can someone tell me how we got to Thursday? Christmas is nearly upon us! And despite the fact that I wasn't really going to knit gifts this year, my schedule is filling up quite rapidly. I've even started a knitting schedule on my calendar in an effort to be efficient and get things done in a timely manner (and I'm already behind. Bah.). So far I'm booked until the 20th, and most of it is Zombies! Haha.

The first attempt at a new fingerless mitt design. I've changed the design since then, but can't show you now since it's a gift.

I'm going to need to change things up with the way I hold my needles. All my projects are on double pointed needles right now and I'm developing a pain in the knuckle of my right index finger. Not good. I'm thinking Irish Cottage or "Lever" style knitting. I've tried continental and my fingers are just too stupid to figure it out.

I think I'm just about ready to start an Etsy shop. My whole family has been telling me I need to, but I've had this fear that no body would actually buy anything I knit. I think the Zombies-for-payment thing finally got me over that. I might sell some patterns too, if I can get them written up. I might need some test/tech knitters eventually, if any one is interested.

I'm going to attempt to finish this shawl by the end of the year as well. Hey! I hear you laughing. Stop it. I'm not crazy. I just... aim high. Yeah. That's it.

There is a draft in this house that keeps running across my feet and I can not find it. It's driving me nuts. I'm pretty sure it's the front door. But I put a rolled up towel at the bottom and I still feel the draft.

Good news though. Our electricity bill is 1/4 of what we figured it would be! Yay! So I guess I can deal with the draft as long as it's not sucking up our heating costs.

I'm grumpy today. I'm trying not to be, but my brain is apparently trying to vacate my body and I've had a pretty nasty headache since last night. And my littlest man woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. And that draft. (Did I mention it was driving me nuts?) Ugh. I think I just need a cup of tea and some knitting time.

I'm thinking I need to do a series on holiday cookies. Maybe one recipe per week, if I can. What say you all?

Have a wonderful, warm, headache free day,
Meg

I would love it if you shared some of your Christmas cookies. I love making your recipes....they are all so good!

Christmas cookies sounds really good! Pioneer Woman's been doing a cookie series, and I can feel myself gaining weight just looking at the pictures. I don't get to do much holiday baking myself this month, and I'm frantically making baskets as hard as I can go. (Do you think Ben would like a basket for Christmas? I have until next weekend to get them done!)

As for the draft ... gee, if it's not the door, I'm not sure where it could be coming from. Check your windows. My window was open a crack, and I couldn't figure out why it kept getting so dang cold at night.

Don't let the knitting get you down. Bags of peanut M&Ms work well as Christmas presents, too. :-)

Kess: Yes, he probably would! But don't kill yourself if you can't get to it.

I wish I could just give M&M's, but most of the knits I have are orders for other people, so I can't really do that. Hehe.

Oh well it is called sprint for 24 days. That is what we live for, right? Think how terribly boring Jan. Is but the baking thing is pretty good. I had to make stuff this morning so William could take it to school for a pot luck and baking really does help the grumpies.

so sorry about the headache, draft, grumpy
toddler, and writer's block.

headache: lots of water, rest, magnesium,
and vitamin B

draft: flannels and warm socks

grumpy toddler: on your lap for a fun story

writer's block: who about some vampires? :)

You are a good dose of reality, Meg. I love your blog... I love what you tell us! I agree...start an etsy shop (what is an etsy shop?). My sister and best friend are master Kan knitters, so if you need test/tech knitters (what are those?) ask me and I'll ask them! Both live in the US (you wouldn't want me since I'm pattern challenged;). But you should try it...why not? Seize the day! Carpe diem!

At any rate, I've been in a bad mood too this past week, and I have it on good authority that a NUMBER of other women have been as well. So tonight I'm pouring me and my husband a glass of Bailey's Irish Cream and I will toast to you... "Here's to sorority - here's to holding hands around the world through bad moods!"

You've cheered me up, I daresay. Hugs!

Allison: Woohoo! I would join you in that toast if I had some Bailey's. I do love Irish Cream.

Etsy.com is a website where you can sell handmade items. It's pretty cool, and there are some REALLY talented people there.

Test knitters I would just need for knitting the pattern themselves and telling me if there are any errors or if it makes sense. Tech knitters go through the pattern to make sure all the terminology is correct and standard. Thanks for the suggestion of your sister and friend. I'll keep them in mind if I get that far.

Oh! Fingerless mittens!!! I JUST saw a pattern for these the other day...and wished I could knit!

(Just came through Allison's blog....glad I did. I love random thoughts:)))
Happy day to you...and yay for those of you who can actually create beautiful things with knitting needles:)

Life is like that; very frustrating at time! I love to look at your bits of work; looks cozy warm. That block will go away and soon you will be back in the swing to things.
